Planning – The Key To Control
ByWinston Churchill said, “History will be kind to me. I intend to write it“.
To make an impact on history and, in fact, to make an impact on your own life, you need to plan your day, every day.
If you are in business, this is an essential key to your success.
“Planning” really means predetermining a series of events.
We have excuses for not planning. Here are just a few:
1. I don’t have time
2. Planning limits freedom
3. Putting out today’s fires takes precedence over planning.
If you are living by those rules, let’s pose a question: If you don’t plan, are you living in a proactive mode or a reactive mode? The answer is, of course, reactive.
When you live in a reactive mode, your day is controlling you. It is understood that even the best made plans sometimes take a detour if an emergency or urgent matter occurs.
But if you want to be in control of your life and your business, every mega-successful person agrees that you need to plan your day.
Here is a template that takes a matter of mere minutes:
1. Review your values and goals for the day
2. Set your specific daily tasks
3. Evaluate the time it takes to complete each task
4. Plan for obstacles and the unforseen in your day
5. Prioritize your tasks
If you plan the day first thing in the morning and then review the plan to asses results at the end of the day, your brain becomes trained to look for a plan in the morning and results by bedtime.
This one concept can change your life.
The legendary Jim Rohn said “Never begin your day until you plan the day”.
We agree totally.
